The greatest joy I get from the profession is to watch as a client accomplishes their financial goals and delight in their successes. There’s nothing better than making their life a little bit easier, then feeling and seeing the happiness those rewards create in their lives.

What do you enjoy most about wealth management?
The relationships. Understanding “why” someone wants financial peace and independence is just as rewarding as helping them achieve it. I enjoy working with my client’s and colleagues to bring together all aspects of a client’s financial picture (i.e. accounting, taxes, debts, investments, business ownership, cash flow management, etc.) to come up with a plan to put them in the best position to meet their financial goals. I love being able to give my clients the focus they need to spend time doing what truly matters to them in their life.
What do you love most about Practice Financial Group?
1) The culture – specifically how everyone at PFG treats all individuals with respect and compassion. From our clients, to employees and peers, everyone has a desire to make a positive impact in the lives that we touch every day. You just need to look as far as our first core value – PEOPLE first – and you can get a sense of what PFG holds as its highest priority.
2) The ability to perform all aspects of my job with absolutely no conflicts of interest. I have no personal, professional, or financial incentive to give biased advice to our clients. If our clients are successful, I will be successful.
Other than to pay bills, why is PFG in business?
To enhance the quality of life for all our clients and PFG team members. To allow the same individuals the ability to achieve their goals and ambitions in this world without added stress or concern over their financial position. I believe that finances are a foundational piece to help individuals build more important goals and ambitions on in life; therefore, the more PFG can cement this foundation, the more time and energy our clients can put forth to initiate change for the better in their own life and in the world.
What do you do at PFG?
I am the go-to source for my clients in all aspects of their financial picture. If it has a $ in front of the number, then I’m your guy. I help my clients talk and work through all sorts of scenarios and problems to ultimately get them to financial independence (i.e. make the decisions they want to in life without worrying about the financial consequences).
What professional accomplishments are you most proud of?
Setting and accomplishing the goal to study, take, and pass the two “gold standards” in financial literacy designations: CPA & CFP®.
I’m also proud of the relationships I’ve created with many other CPAs, bankers, lawyers, and advisors in our Southern Oregon community and across the country.
What strengths of yours make you suited for what you do?
I have the ability to learn and grow. I can then take my new knowledge and apply it to the puzzle of financial management. I like to think I’m a good problem solver, or at least have the ability to bring all the pieces of a puzzle together to come up with the best scenario. I also enjoy receiving input from colleagues, clients, and other professionals when it comes to planning finances.
I’ve also always had a fondness for numbers, puzzles, math, science, and people. Being a financial planner takes all those traits and rolls them into one destination for our clients. There is more than one way to get to the summit of the mountain (retirement), but let’s choose the most efficient and effective way.
What are your interests outside of work?
Spending time with my family. Along with my wife and kids, we have a large extended family here in the Rogue Valley. We enjoy camping, swimming/fishing at the lake, and just hanging out and relaxing with all of them. I also enjoy most things that involve sports and pop culture. I play fantasy football and basketball, and physically play basketball both in the mornings and in a Medford Parks and Rec league every week.
What personal accomplishments are you most proud of?
First and foremost is my incredible family! Most everything that I am today can be attributed to my wife and kids. A very distant second was winning the 2008 NAIA Div. II Men’s Basketball National Championship at OIT as a Senior. We worked incredibly hard and I was awarded the National Player of the Year due to our team’s success.
